Disgraced former mayor Salim Mehajer debuts new romance with bizarre photo on social media after five years behind bars
Disgraced property developer Salim Mehajer has launched his new relationship with a mysterious brunette on social media.
It’s been 10 months since the bankrupt former deputy mayor of Auburn walked out of the John Morony Correctional Center in Sydney’s west after five years behind bars.
Since his highly publicized release, the 39-year-old has kept a low profile, aside from the occasional post on his private Instagram account, several court appearances and running errands in his Tesla Model 3.
Mehajer shared a selfie with his new dark-haired flame via social media on Tuesday, but bizarrely pouted her face.
“With my best friend, my soulmate and my eternal queen (Inshallah),” he captioned the selfie, along with a pink heart emoji.
Mehajer appeared to have a fresh haircut in the selfie.
It comes just weeks after the former mayor suffered a major legal setback when a Sydney court rejected his application for an assault warrant against his former partner, who he had previously been jailed for assault.
In documents tendered to Parramatta Local Court, Mehajer claimed he felt harassed, intimidated and unsafe when he left his home.

Since his much-publicized release from prison last July, the 39-year-old has kept a low profile
The application claimed that Mehajer had repeatedly experienced problems with his electronic devices since his release from prison and claimed that the woman had taken control of his Apple iCloud account and email by changing the password and linking her own phone number.
The AVO was dismissed last month because Mehajer had not been given permission by a High Court judge to start the proceedings after being declared a ‘vexatious litigant’ in 2022.
The ruling means Mehajer cannot commence civil proceedings in any court in NSW unless expressly permitted by the court, including private AVOs.
The decision was made after he attempted to sue 17 defendants for $52 million over the fallout from a development project that put him out of business.
Mehajer’s lawyer Zali Burrows tried to argue in court last month that the litigant’s burdensome orders did not prevent her client from filing or pursuing procedural requests in criminal proceedings, NCA Newswire reported.
She also claimed that the private AVO could become a criminal proceeding if the order was issued and breached.
The court heard that Mehajer had attempted to apply to the Registrar of the High Court, who had no authority to grant him permission to commence the AVO.
Before his release, Mehajer had been in prison since November 2020. He was jailed for lying to a court and served consecutive sentences for a series of other crimes, including domestic violence against his former partner.

While he has acknowledged the fraud crimes, Mehajer has maintained his innocence regarding the domestic violence convictions, which he said “simply didn’t happen.”
His appeal against these convictions is currently pending before the Court of Criminal Appeal, pending judgment.
Mehajer remains under an AVO and is banned from contacting the woman or traveling to the NSW Central Coast.
He revealed to his 127,000 Instagram followers earlier this year that he is currently writing a memoir, in which he warns his former associates that “not many people have come out unscathed.”
Mehajer promised to share several excerpts before the book’s release.
Whether he will open up about his long stay in prison remains to be seen.
His incarceration included stints in Sydney’s notorious Silverwater maximum security prison and a week in Goulburn Supermax while in transit from Cooma.
Mehajer refused pre-trial detention to avoid association with ‘rapists, pedophiles and informants’.
Prior to his release last July, the NSW State Parole Authority ruled that Mehajer had completed all possible programs in prison and that his rehabilitation would be better served in the community under the supervision of a psychologist and community corrections officers.

As part of his strict release conditions, Mehajer must undergo drug and alcohol testing, participate in domestic violence programs if prescribed, and not communicate with criminal motorcycle gangs or associates.
Mehajer reappeared on social media within hours of his release from prison.
“I am forever grateful,” he shared on Instagram. ‘I am fully committed to fulfilling the expectations placed on me.
“In addition, I express my sincere appreciation for the continued support of my family and friends, as well as the dedication of my legal representative, who has consistently assisted me throughout this journey.”
Mehajer rose to prominence after his elaborate $1 million wedding to Aysha Learmonth in Sydney’s western suburbs in 2015.
The ceremony started with the groom arriving by helicopter and featured a motorcade of luxury vehicles and pigeons, which closed off an entire street in Lidcombe.
The event sparked controversy after Mehajer sent fake flyers to neighbors warning them that their cars would be towed if they got in the way.
But despite leaving the council and police furious, he remained unapologetic about the chaos and instead told the media he wanted to be the next ‘superstar’.
The couple separated just eight months later.
