A much-loved aged care nurse has been killed in a head-on collision with a suspected stolen woman just four days after celebrating her 21st wedding anniversary.

Carron Scott, 60, was on her way to work when her Toyota Corolla was hit by an Isuzu D-Max on the D’Aguilar Hwy near Woodford, north of Brisbane, about 6am on Tuesday.

The Caboolture woman suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

The male driver of the ute. which was allegedly stolen from a Morayfield home just hours earlier, fled the scene, sparking a two-hour police manhunt.

He was found hiding in a toilet block at a nearby school, which was closed during the manhunt, along with a daycare center.

There were no students present at the time.

The Ellen Grove man, 31, was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash before being charged with a series of offences.

These include one count of manslaughter, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driver failing to attend an incident, disqualified from driving, drug driving and two counts of trespassing.

He is due to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Mrs. Scott’s husband. Darryl paid a heartbreaking tribute to his longtime partner.

“I am absolutely devastated,” he wrote on social media.

‘You were taken from us in one fell swoop. Right now we all feel lost without you.

‘Thank you for a wonderful 25 years together. Life goes on, but you will never be forgotten. Until we meet again on the other side. I love you forever.”

The couple celebrated their wedding anniversary just four days earlier.

‘Happy 21st wedding anniversary to my beautiful wife. I love you forever,” Mr. Scott captioned a piece of music for the Australian group Little River Band’s hit Happy Anniversary.

His wife commented on the post: “I love you forever.”

Mrs. Scott also leaves behind three children, just a few days after Mother’s Day.

“She was always there for me – when I called she answered,” her son Simon Glanz told Seven News.

Her cousin Lee-Anne Collins wrote: ‘There are no words to describe how beautiful and wonderful this lady was. She was a devoted wife and mother, and she loved being a nurse. She was one of God’s best.”

“I had the privilege of growing up with her and her siblings; our mothers were sisters and they had a very close bond.’

“You were taken from us far too soon and I am devastated, but I know we will be together again and I know you will watch over us.”

Mrs Scott had worked for the past two years at Woodford Manor Aged Care, which also paid tribute.

“She was a respected, loved and valued member of our team and a dedicated nurse who had been part of the Woodford Manor community for more than two years,” a spokesperson said.

‘She will be greatly missed by colleagues, residents and families. Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with her family, friends and all who knew her.

“This is an incredibly difficult time for our team and the wider community. We provide ongoing support to staff and ensure appropriate wellbeing resources are available.”

The highway was closed in both directions for several hours as forensic officers examined the crash scene.

The police are calling on anyone with a dashcam or camera footage of the suspected stolen car between 3:45 a.m. and 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday to come forward.
