Amanda Seyfried has fans worried as she looks close to tears on the Met Gala red carpet
Amanda Seyfried has fans worried as she looked near tears on the Met Gala red carpet on Monday night.
The Housemaid actress, 40, looked teary-eyed at fashion’s biggest night of the year as she chatted to reporters about a possible third Mamma Mia film.
She said: “It was an iconic time for all of us that something worked so well, for people and it still works to this day. I can’t wait to come back.’
However, fans remained concerned about the American star, who skipped the annual event last year as she appeared close to tears.
They wrote: ‘Is she crying?; Why is she crying?; Why are her eyes so shiny?’
Despite the emotional moment, Amanda stunned in a custom-made Prada princess dress, adorned with statement Tiffany & Co jewelry.

Her strapless pink number featured a fitted bodice with a dropped waist and a flowy skirt with chunky ruffles.
As she walked up the steps of the Met, Amanda’s train followed behind her, with her long blonde locks flowing down her back from a sleek ponytail.
The actress was joined on the red carpet by Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and Hailey Bieber, among others.
The theme of this year’s event – widely considered the Super Bowl of celebrity red carpets – was Costume Art, while the dress code was Fashion is Art.
But the gala was marred by controversy over Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 62, and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, 56, who sponsored the event.
The couple reportedly gave $10 million to the Costume Institute in exchange for their appointment as honorary co-chairs.
The Daily Mail has contacted Amanda’s reps for comment.
It comes after Amanda insisted winning an Oscar ‘isn’t important’ when she asked: ‘Do you know who has won in the last ten years?’ after being ‘robbed’ of a Golden Globe.
The Mean Girls star received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 2021 Academy Awards for her role in Mank.
She also scored nods at this year’s Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards for The Testament of Ann Lee, hinting at a possible Oscar nomination for the role.

The Mamma Mia star has been to the Met Gala a total of five times, the first in 2013
But Amanda has now insisted she does not need the award to continue a successful career.
Speaking to The New Yorker, Amanda said it’s actually the Oscar nomination that “propels you forward,” asking: “Do you remember who’s won in the last ten years?”
She added, “Do I need one in a week or two, or whenever? No, of course not. Would it be great? Of course, for whatever reason, but that’s not necessary.’
Amanda previously raised eyebrows with her behavior at the Golden Globes in January when she lost out on the Best Actress award twice – looking bored when the awards were announced.
The actress then appeared visibly disappointed when she lost the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture to If I Had Legs I’d Kick You star Rose Byrne.
In a viral clip from the evening, the Emmy-winning star, who was nominated for The Testament Of Ann Lee, was caught grimacing briefly before forcing a smile and clapping.
Fans of Amanda have since claimed she behaved the way she did because she ‘knew she wasn’t going to win’, adding that the actress was ‘robbed’ of the accolades.
