Afghan special operations hero killed in pub fight ‘while his pregnant wife slept at home’: four arrested for ‘murder’
An Afghan Special Ops soldier who came to Britain after fighting alongside British troops against the Taliban has been killed in a reported bar fight.
First Lieutenant Abdul Wali Mamozai, 33, was expecting a baby with his pregnant wife Habiba at the time of his death, it was reported.
Officers were called to the Market Street area of Bracknell at around 11.40am on Sunday, April 26, to reports of a deceased man, Thames Valley Police said.
Four men aged 35, 33, 33 and 27 were later arrested on suspicion of murder and assault.
They have since been released on bail.
Abdul is believed to have arrived in Britain seven months ago through the government’s Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP).
The program is designed to help Afghan-born soldiers who have fought alongside British soldiers in “exposed or significant roles” and may therefore be at risk from Taliban reprisals.
After living in a hotel in Crawley, West Sussex, for three months, Abdul moved to The Grange Hotel in Bracknell, while working at a nearby car wash.

While at the hotel he met his wife, Habiba Haidari, 34, who said the couple were “very happy” and had spent the day together before Abdul was invited out by a friend in the evening.
After waking up around 3:30 a.m. and realizing her husband had not returned, Habiba called him more than 100 times without an answer – before going to the hotel security guards to report him missing.
Abdul’s grieving wife has said she wants to leave Bracknell because she is haunted by the memories of the time she spent there with her husband.
She told The Sun: ‘We had a very short time together. I made so many memories with him in this short time.
‘Wherever I go in the hotel, I see him there. I remember our moments in every corner. I can’t live in this hotel because these memories will destroy me.
‘I have asked the local authorities to move me because I cannot continue living here in Bracknell and The Grange Hotel, surrounded by these memories.’
Mr Mamozai’s relatives are supported by specially trained family contact persons.
