Armed and dangerous survivalist and army veteran on the run after shooting his wife in their Tennessee home
A massive manhunt was underway in Tennessee for an armed and dangerous US Army Special Forces veteran who allegedly shot his wife.
According to the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported shooting at Craig Berry’s home around 1:30 a.m. Friday during a domestic dispute.
But by the time emergency services arrived on the scene, Berry had already run into the woods.
Meanwhile, his wife — a teacher at Stewart County Schools whose identity has not been released — was able to run out of the house and drive away after being shot, WCNC reports.
She was reportedly recovering in hospital on Monday evening. Her condition remained unclear.
Authorities have been searching a remote, heavily wooded area for any sign of Berry since he fled the scene Friday.
He was wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder.
But the Sheriff’s Office is warning that he should not be approached under any circumstances as they urge residents to lock their doors and stay alert.

Officials have not ruled out the possibility that Berry received help after the shooting, but deputies do not believe he had a phone or other means of communication with him.
The Stewart County Sheriff’s Office is now working with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, State Homeland Security and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to locate Berry.
In the meantime, authorities are asking anyone who sees anything suspicious or anyone with any information about Berry’s whereabouts to call 911.
