The Spice Girls are reportedly in talks for an Abba-style hologram show to mark their 30th anniversary – after their reunion tour was axed.

Band members Mel B, Geri Horner, Mel C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham were in talks for a series of concerts to celebrate thirty years since the release of their debut single Wannabe.

However, last month it was reported that the group could not come to an agreement on a reunion.

But now they could instead be about to follow in the footsteps of the ABBA Voyage setup that launched in 2022 and turned the band into digital avatars.

The Sun reports that Victoria said on SiriusXM radio this week: “I think it would be a great idea.

‘The principle of it would be great. We talked about it at dinner, but we’ll see.’

Discussions were previously rumored to be ongoing with their former manager Simon Fuller.

A source told the publication: ‘Simon is desperate for one last hurray with the Spice Girls and this is his latest idea.

“He was the person who came up with the original idea for Abba and their digital show and he thinks this model could work perfectly for the group.

“Simon knows this plan would mean the band would make money in their sleep and open up their music to a whole new generation.”

Victoria last performed with the band at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games and before that she joined the band on their 2007-2008 world tour.

Geri left the band in 1998, in the middle of their world tour and on Mel B’s birthday.

Geri’s departure from the band made headlines around the world and the group disbanded two years later.

The Spice Girls rose to fame in 1996 when their debut single Wannabe reached number one in 37 countries.

The girl group reached the top of the UK charts nine times and had two number one albums. When Geri left the band, she began a solo career and enjoyed four number one singles in Britain.

In March it was reported that plans for an anniversary reunion tour had been scrapped.

It came a few weeks later it was claimed that a Netflix The project to celebrate the anniversary had also been cancelled, with sources claiming that Geri in particular had had doubts about whether to sign up.

Mel C confirmed shortly afterwards that no reunion was in the works, as she told The Smallzy Show on KIIS Radio: ‘No, there is no reunion. We communicate all the time. We want to do something – who knows when.

“But I’m still very optimistic and my fingers are crossed that you’ll see the Spice Girls together one day.”

So far, only a collector’s coin from the Royal Mint has been announced to mark the anniversary.

Daily Mail has contacted a representative of The Spice Girls for comment.
