Urgent recall of popular wine sold at Dan Murphy’s and BWS for fear it will cause an allergic reaction
- Pinnacle Drinks has recalled the Noble Fellows Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Vintage
- The 750ml bottles contain an undeclared allergen called sulfites
- Sulfites can cause coughing and wheezing, similar to asthma symptoms
A popular wine sold in Australia’s biggest bottle shops has been recalled after an undeclared allergen was discovered.
Pinnacle Drinks recalled the Noble Fellows Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Vintage 750ml bottles due to the presence of sulfites.
Sulfites are primarily used as a preservative in some beverages, and low levels of natural sulfites can be found in many foods.

However, if sulfites are ingested by people who are allergic to them, they can cause wheezing and coughing, similar to asthma.
“Consumers with a sulfite allergy or intolerance should not consume this product and should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the NSW Food Authority said.
“All consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.”
