A mother has been beaten after forcing her son to run in the 104 degree heat as punishment for behaving at school and posting a video about it on TikTok.

Katarina Rodriguez told followers the punishment was an alternative form of discipline to spanking – but critics called the clip “traumatizing.”

Rodriguez posted images of herself running down a sidewalk next to her son, who appears to be panting and breathless. It is not clear exactly where the images were taken.

She told the camera, “My five-year-old won’t listen at school.

“He makes destructive noises, doesn’t listen, doesn’t think he needs to settle down when he gets off the playground.

“And we’re going to run. We’re going to run in 104 degrees.’

Her son ran beside her panting and seemingly out of breath

Rodriguez continues: “This is the first time we have run to his sad faces at school.

“He thought we’d just run to his mailbox. So he went running. sprint. Now he is dying. Are we going to behave at school?’

Her son wails in response to the question as he continues to run.

The end of the video shifts back to Rodriguez at her house as she explains her style of discipline.

‘We’re not going to hit. We’re not going to hit. We’re going to discipline. We’ll see what tomorrow brings,’ she said.

But TikTok users condemned Rodriguez’s sentence.

“God, this is traumatizing. Punishment for not being able to listen in a classroom. There is clearly something else going on with them,” someone wrote, according to The Daily Dot.

“That’s one way to ruin a healthy relationship with exercise,” said another

Rodriguez later posted a follow-up video to address the criticism, insisting that her son improve his behavior as a result of the punishment.

She said, ‘I made my kid run because he hates running as a source of punishment, and if you don’t like that because you think it’s wrong, then that’s your opinion.

“If I can scare him with the fact that we’re going to run if you’re not having a good day and being respectful and nice and kind, so be it.”

She added, “It’s better than my hand stinging from the screeching in his ass.”

Rodriguez also defended her style of discipline by claiming that she is trying to make her son “a man.”

“Not that it’s anyone’s business, we’ve tried other disciplinary actions like grounds, taking things away, corners, whatever, and if those things work for your kids, great. Didn’t work for mine,” she added.

The video of Rodriguez’s punishment and her follow-up video have since been removed from her account.
