Paul Pogba believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Old Trafford will help the Manchester United team ‘raise the level’.

Ronaldo returned to the Red Devils this summer after completing a £19.8m transfer from Juventus, 12 years after leaving for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Pogba – who also returned to United five years ago after leaving for free in 2012 – says it is good for the squad to train with a ‘great player’ who has a wealth of ‘experience’.

The French midfielder told Telefoot via Get football news France: ‘It is always a pleasure to play with the best.

“It’s also a plus for the players to be able to train with a great player. He is going to raise the level of the team to a higher level.’

In an earlier conversation with Sky Sports, Pogba also said Ronaldo’s ‘experience’ would help steer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in the right direction for the 2021-2022 season.

He said: ‘Everyone knows [what Ronaldo brings]. He’s already a legend in this club and he’s coming back, so obviously it’s huge for us, for the club.

Pogba will play alongside Ronaldo for the first time in his career this season. It is believed that the couple will embark on a formidable partnership.

Having already provided five assists in the first three games of the 2021-2022 season, Pogba will try to replenish his number by providing Ronaldo with a steady stream of opportunities.
