Deliciously creamy and high in protein, with the taste of fresh milk, ricotta has long been one of my favorite spreads. And it’s a particularly inviting bed for seasonal fruit. This fall variation starts with a nutty, textured slice of whole-wheat toast. Of course, any kind of bread will work, but the dense bread often sold as “health bread” has a chewy and deep flavor that is particularly satisfying here.
