A friend of Matt and Martha Hancock has described the former health minister as “despicable” about the way he ended his marriage, leaving his wife “crushed”.
Mr Hancock, 43, who has been on holiday in the Swiss Alps with his beloved Gina Coladangelo, 44, is set to make a political comeback despite being forced to leave the cabinet due to his infidelity.
The Tory MP was exposed in June for kissing Ms Coladangelo, whom he had appointed as an adviser, in his cabinet, violating the social distancing guidelines he had set.

The family friend told The Telegraph“Martha is crushed by this and Matt is only interested in his career and his mistress. He is a despicable individual.
“He didn’t care about Martha or the kids. He is indifferent to Martha, although she has supported him throughout his career and introduced him to the people who made his career. She’s always defended him.’
Mr Hancock tried to contain the political storm for his flagrant violations of Covid-19 regulations and his marital infidelity, but was eventually fired by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
He was replaced as health minister by former chancellor Sajid Javid.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to reshuffle his cabinet and Mr Hancock is hoping for a return to the front lines as Mr Javid resigned over a falling out with Prime Minister’s then Chief Adviser Dominic Cummings.
The family friend continued: ‘Matt Hancock is a terrible person. He is definitely not a gentleman. He keeps trying to suggest that everything will be okay if everyone is crushed by this. He’s been horrible to Martha and at no point has he apologized to her or the rest of the family for what he’s done.”
Mr Hancock and his wife Martha met in Oxford and married in 2006. Ms Colandangelo, a mother of three, is married to Oliver Tress, owner of the store of the same name.
The Sun published CCTV footage from Mr Hancock’s private office showing the then health minister in an unauthorized clash with his adviser, whom he has known since college.
Mr Hancock and Mrs Coladangelo were photographed for £87 a night in Villars-sur-Ollon, near Montreux, Switzerland.
The couple, who have continued dating since their affair came to light, have stayed at The Villars Mountain Lodge, which is described on the hotel’s website as ‘resolutely modern yet wonderfully authentic’.

The hotel offers hot showers, a bar and dinner, ‘cozy beds, ultra-soft pillows and soundproofed rooms’. It is about a 90-minute drive from the city of Geneva and offers views of the famous Mont Blanc.
Known for its skiing and its blindingly expensive boarding schools, the village is also part of the larger resort town of Villars – a favorite with royalty and celebrities.

As the couple continued to enjoy their holiday, Mr Hancock’s wife Martha, 44, who met the former secretary of health when they were both students at Oxford University, was spotted in North London earlier today during the school run.

Mr Hancock and Ms Coladangelo are known to have driven to the resort from the UK for what is believed to be their first holiday abroad since their relationship was revealed in June, The Daily Express reports.
It was Mr Hancock’s second holiday in as many weeks after seeing the surf with his children in Cornwall last month.
The Hancocks, who married in 2006, lived with their daughter aged 14 and two sons aged 13 and 8 in London and West Suffolk until earlier this year when Mr Hancock’s affair came to light.
After the images appeared, Mr Hancock confirmed his resignation and said he wanted to “repeat his apology for breaking the guidelines”.
He said: ‘The last thing I would want is for my private life to divert attention from the one-sided focus that is leading us out of this crisis.
“I want to apologize for violating the guidelines and apologize to my family and loved ones for going through this. I must (must) be with my children right now.’
