One of the glamorous bands of the Champions League group stage has been given a huge boost with Lionel Messi now set to play for PSG against Manchester City.
The Argentine superstar was an injury doubt for his new squad’s Champions League clash with Pep Guardiola’s men on Wednesday.
He suffered a knee problem during PSG’s Ligue 1 win over Lyon last week and there were fears he would miss the Guardiola reunion.

But new images of the six-time Ballon d’Or winner have surfaced, suggesting an entirely more optimistic perspective.
Messi saw Neymar laughing and participated in all the exercises on the training ground for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
The 34-year-old underwent a scan of his knee, but the results were positive and fears of injury subsided.
The forward missed PSG’s 2-0 win over Montpellier, extending their lead at the top to 10 points.
But Pochettino was hopeful that he would become the centerpiece of the big Champions League clash and said: “As you have seen in the medical update coming out before the press conference, we are going to judge him,” he said.
“We hope he gets better and we can give a positive update on Sunday. We hope all goes well and he is available again.

Messi was heavily linked with a move to City last season and this summer, but it never came to fruition and he could now line up against his former Barcelona boss and mentor.
Together they formed a formidable partnership as two of the main pillars for the golden age of the Catalan side.
Messi scored 211 goals in 209 appearances for Barcelona under Guardiola and won the Ballon d’Or four times under his tutelage.
It remains to be seen if Pochettino finds Messi fit to start the big game at home
