Mo Salah ‘deserves’ to be one of the highest paid players in the Premier League, emphasizes Jamie Carragher…
- Mohamed Salah is currently in deep contract negotiations with Liverpool
- The Egyptian winger reportedly wants around £500,000 a week in his new deal
- Jamie Carragher claims Salah deserves a mega contract because of his importance
- The Sky pundit insists Salah has the same professionalism as Cristiano Ronaldo
- Salah is also an easy pick in an all-time Liverpool starting XI, says Carragher
Jamie Carragher hopes Mohamed Salah will sign his new contract with Liverpool as he ‘deserves’ to be one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.
The Reds have signed their biggest stars – such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker and Sadio Mane – to new contracts this summer and Salah is reportedly in talks to make him the highest paid player in Liverpool’s history.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher claims Salah is worthy of that honour, as he could easily make an all-time Liverpool XI, but the Egyptian also deserves to be in the bracket of England’s highest-paid footballers for his achievements.

Salah has three goals in four games this season and is in talks about a new contract at Anfield
Carragher told air sports on Monday: “When you pick your very best Liverpool XI, there are always positions that go straight into it.
“(Alan) Hansen, (John) Barnes, (Graeme) Souness, (Steven) Gerrard, (Ian) Rush, (Kenny) Dalglish – you fill the positions no matter what this team does. There is no one you ever think of on the right.
“Mo Salah will be in that position, he will be in the all-time Liverpool XI when he finishes his career, there is no doubt about that for me.

Liverpool have not entered the market like other teams this summer, but they have given all their players new contracts. The one who has yet to sign is Salah, he clearly wants a few pounds, rightly so, he deserves it.
“He deserves to be one of the highest paid players in the league because of what he’s done since coming to Liverpool. Never injured and year after year top scorer.’
Earlier this month, reports said Salah is demanding £500,000 a week in his new contract, which would put him level with Cristiano Ronaldo as the highest paid player in the Premier League.
The Manchester Untied attacker signed a two-year deal at Old Trafford on the deadline of the deadline to make a sensational return to the Premier League.

Carragher claims Salah (right) is on the same level of professionalism as Man United’s Ronaldo
Carragher believes Salah, who has scored three goals in four appearances for the Reds this season, shares the same professional standards as Ronaldo and believes the Egyptian winger is capable of performing “many years” at the highest level.
“We’re talking about Ronaldo coming in at 36, that guy is a machine in the way he takes care of himself,” added Carragher. “I think he (Salah) is just as professional as Ronaldo. I think there are still many years to go in Salah. Fingers crossed that it’s settled.
“He’s hugely important. Sometimes I feel for him because he goes under the radar at Liverpool.
“When people talk about winning the league, people talk about Van Dijk and Alisson coming in, but Salah came six months earlier. It was almost three of them. People always talk about the goalkeeper and central defender, but Salah is part of that too.’
