Cristiano Ronaldo praised Old Trafford’s ‘magical’ support who greeted him after scoring twice on his return to Manchester United in the club’s 4-1 win over Newcastle.
The 36-year-old played his first game in more than 12 years in United colors when he struck on either side of half-time to send the Premier League’s Red Devils head off for a few hours at least on Saturday.
In an Instagram post on Saturday night, Portuguese star Ronaldo revealed he is proud to be back where he made his name as a footballer and pledged to continue creating moments for United supporters to enjoy.

Manchester United’s number 7 took just 47 minutes to score in the club’s 4-1 win over Newcastle
The message read: ‘My return to Old Trafford was just a brief reminder of why this stadium is known as the Theater of Dreams. For me it has always been a magical place where you can achieve anything you want.
“Together with all my teammates and with the great support we always get from the stands, we are moving forward with confidence and optimism that in the end we will all celebrate together.
“Proud to be with Man again. United and back in the Premier League, but above all happy to help the team! Let’s go, Devils!’

The veteran striker tapped out from a few yards after Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman skipped a shot from Mason Greenwood after excellent resistance from the visitors to the all-star United attack.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad was found just after halftime when Javier Manquillo completed a fine counterattack involving Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin to silence the Old Trafford stalwarts.
But the Magpies’ lead lasted only six minutes when Ronaldo struck again. United’s number 7 picked up Luke Shaw’s clever pass on the edge of the box and crashed a left-footed effort between Woodman’s legs just below the Stretford End.

The three points were sealed by late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard, but United boss Solskjaer praised the ‘ruthless’ Ronaldo.
“(I am) so happy for Ronaldo, the team and the supporters,” said the Norwegian. “You could feel the atmosphere around the club when he signed. He delivered today.
“Ronaldo senses the big moments and is relentless. He is clinical, lifted the team and everyone around us. The fans can dream, we stay with both feet on the ground.’
