“There’s always that one person who brings a barbecue chop to a family gathering. One time my sister was setting the table and she started doing this randomly and I was like, “That’s a brilliant idea,” Helen said in the video.

“It’s quick, easy, no mess to clean up and you save a lot of time.”

Helen said if the chicken is too hot to handle, just wrap a tea towel or cloth around the bag to make it easier to pull apart.

Her video has since been viewed more than 26,000 times, with many saying they never thought of breaking down the fried chicken like this.

“What…I’m a year old today that I learned that,” one man wrote, while another said, “I love this.”

The ‘chook hack’ comes just weeks after a Coles employee revealed the secret behind the store’s popular hot fried chickens.

The employee said the crispy, golden skin is due to the copious amounts of spices sprinkled on raw chickens before roasting them in the store.

She shared a video showing how the roast birds are normally prepared.

‘We place the chickens on the grids and season them so that they are nice and crispy’, she explains.

Before they go into the oven, the worker gives them a second coat of seasoning.

After roasting in a giant commercial oven at 220°C for an hour and 15 minutes, the chickens are removed and then transferred into the individual bags.

The oven is then set to a self-cleaning mode.
