A major Australian caravan manufacturer has been placed into voluntary administration just weeks before Christmas.
Zone RV has appointed administrators Cor Cordis to conduct an ‘urgent review’ of its operations and will continue to trade at a ‘substantially reduced capacity’.
The luxury off-road caravan company based on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast informed 250 employees of their uncertain future on Monday before sending them home.
It is clear that staff are entitled to rights, including holiday pay.
Customers and suppliers have also been let down with the first creditors meeting scheduled for December 10.
“(The administrators’) primary objective is to preserve value for all stakeholders, including approximately 250 employees, customers and suppliers, and to determine the strategic options available to the company going forward,” a statement from Cor Cordis said.
Administrator Rahul Goyal added: “Our immediate priority is to assess all viable options that maximize outcomes for all stakeholders, while exploring opportunities for a sustainable future for the brand.”

Affected customers have taken to social media to express their disappointment.
A customer from Melbourne was on his way to Queensland to pick up his new camper when he heard the news.
“We have been paid in full and had the transfer on Friday,” they wrote.
“I’m turning around and going home now.”
Another couple who had traveled from Victoria went to the bank to pay the remaining balance of $40,000 for their new RV.
Ray and Barb Davidson returned to Zone RV to find the gates locked.
[I’m feeling] angry and let down… it’s very disheartening,” Mr Davidson told the ABC.
‘They took me to my van and said, ‘There it is, done. You will receive the transfer on Wednesday. Just put the final payment on the account and everything will be fine.”
Founded in 2015, the company is proud to have set a new standard for the industry by offering only the highest quality Australian-made off-road caravans.
“We are committed to transforming the off-road caravanning experience through innovative technology, stunning design and unparalleled efficiency,” the website says.
‘With more than 25 years of combined experience in composites manufacturing across the maritime, aerospace and civil construction sectors, our team of experts brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to the table.’
Zone RV’s Instagram page and website remain online, but its Facebook page has been deactivated.
