A man traveling through Montana believes he ran into Brian Laundrie just a day before his girlfriend, Gabby Petito, was last reported to have been seen alive.

Hunter Mannies, 44, of Louisiana, has said he saw Laundrie wearing a hoodie and having a drink alone at Bullwinkle’s Saloon in West Yellowstone.

But he claims Laudrie radiated an “uncomfortable vibe” during the time he was in the bar.

“He was just mad at the world it seemed. I didn’t pay any attention to him, except he and this other couple were the only ones in there,” Mannies said The New York Post.

Towards the end of the evening, Mannies, along with a doctor friend, began chatting with the other couple who were also doctors with her partner.

“The convo got involved in hunting and guns and politics,” Mannies explained, when Laundrie suddenly got involved without being invited to join.

“The man just looked angry, and when there was a pause in the conversation, he said, ‘Stupid Southerners and damn Republicans.’

The other couple responded quickly, “Stupid Southerners? She and I both have “Dr.” for our names. Will you?’ they said.

‘I laughed a little and said, ‘Well, where are you from?’ and he said, “New York,” Mannies explained. “And I said, ‘Okay, New York,’ and he said, ‘I have a name, it’s Brian.’

“I said, ‘Let me ask you this, New York. What did you expect to find in a small mountain town in the middle of nowhere Montana? Did you expect to find a bunch of Democrats?”

The conversation seemed to end there with Mannies returning to his conversation with the other couple, but he claims Laundrie exuded a “weird vibe” with his friend and even claimed he “had that serial killer look.”

“He was overly involved in our conversation. We felt watched,” Mannies told the Post. “He didn’t talk to the bartenders. He was there alone. It just struck me as odd.’

No further thought was given to the meeting until Petito’s disappearance was in the news.

A friend of Mannies called to tell her how she recognized Petito’s friend: “She said that’s the crazy guy from the bar.” said Mannie.

Mannies later told the FBI about the encounter and spoke with an agent for about 45 minutes.

“How many people named Brian from New York who look exactly like him are standing at the bar in the middle of nowhere?” he said.

Petito was last seen alive a day later at a restaurant in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, 120 miles away.

Her remains were discovered last week in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

An autopsy has ruled her death a homicide.

Laundromat returned to the couple’s Florida home without Petito.

He has since disappeared and refused to cooperate with the police about her disappearance.

The pair had been traveling together since July 2, when they left New York, on a cross-country trip. Petito was reported missing on September 11.
