The bizarre moment when a Russian thief sprinted down the street with a five-foot panda toy stolen from a nearby store was captured on CCTV.
The incident, in which the man stole the toys from an unsuspecting florist, was filmed in the city of Bratsk in the southern Russian region of Irkutsk Oblast.
Footage shows the man thinking he’d gotten the shop owner out of the panda by grabbing him by the door, before leaving and darting off the road on foot with his arms wrapped around the comical big bear.

However, he was unable to escape authorities, with the Interior Ministry of Irkutsk Oblast announcing that they had arrested the 33-year-old suspect – a resident of Bratsk City – shortly after he allegedly stole the stuffed animal.
The ministry shared images from two CCTV cameras at the scene, one from inside the flower shop and one from outside.
The man can’t be seen in the first video, but the panda – to the right of the frame by the florist’s door – is lifted off the wall and dragged out the door by the thief.
A woman, presumably a shopkeeper, is then shown walking to the door the thief left behind after seeing the panda disappear.
In the second clip, the suspect is shown sprinting down the sidewalk carrying the huge panda bear toy in front of him after snatching it from the store.
CCTV footage from inside the florist captured the moment the panda was lifted off the wall at the store entrance and taken by the thief before the florist could stop him
The thief was then caught on CCTV walking nearby on the road with the panda in his grasp
But the man was unable to cheat the law as officers found the plush toy during a search of his apartment and police said it will be returned to the florist soon
The florist, whose name was not disclosed, called police after the incident and reported losses of RUB 9,000, approximately £91.
Police said they arrested the suspect, who had previously been convicted of an unspecified crime, shortly after.
Officers found the plush toy during a search of his apartment and police said it will be returned to the florist soon.
