Morgan Hipworth (pictured), from Melbourne, has offered his simple recipe for the perfect homemade sausage rolls wrapped in a golden puff pastry
To make the sandwiches, he sautéed the diced carrots, onions, and celery in a pan until soft.
He then added the bacon and cooked it until crispy, then set it aside.
In a large mixing bowl, he combined the minced pork, egg, herbs such as rosemary, thyme, parsley, breadcrumbs, and bacon mixture.
“Pork results in a much juicier result than beef because of its fat content,” Morgan said.
He then cut a puff pastry sheet in half and placed half of the filling and formed it into a long piece of sheet along one edge of the dough.

He smeared the eggs on it and put sesame seeds on it.
The sausage rolls were baked in the oven at 200C for 20 minutes, or until deep golden brown and crispy.
Morgan said tomato sauce is a “must have” when serving sausage rolls.
His video has since been viewed more than 800,000 times, with many saying they couldn’t wait to recreate the sausage rolls at home.
Morgan’s homemade sausage rolls
INGREDIENTS (for 4 large sausage rolls)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 carrot, diced
1/4 onion, cut into 1/2 cm cubes
2* celery sticks 6 cm, thinly sliced
4 slices streaky bacon, cut into 1cm strips
500 grams of minced pork
50 grams panko breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon rosemary, finely chopped
2 teaspoons thyme, finely chopped
1 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped
1 sheet of puff pastry
Salt & pepper to taste
For the egg wash:
1 tablespoon of milk
Sesame/black sesame seed
Preheat the oven to 200C
In a bowl over medium, add the olive oil, carrot, onion and celery and cook until softened. Add the bacon and cook for a further 2-3 minutes or until the bacon starts to crisp (don’t over-criss it though, as it will continue cooking in the oven). Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
In a bowl, combine the minced meat, egg, breadcrumbs, herbs and cooled bacon mixture and mix until combined.
Make the egg wash by combining the egg and milk in a bowl and beat until combined.
Cut the puff pastry sheet in half and place half of the mincemeat mixture on top, forming a sausage shape along one edge of the dough. Brush the other edge of the dough with the egg wash and roll the dough into the sausage rolls. Cut in half and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Repeat with the other half of the puff pastry sheet.
Brush with the egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until deep golden brown. Serve with tomato sauce and enjoy!
