You could say Arsenal were pretty toothless after failing to find the back of the net in their goalless draw at Brighton, and so was – it turns out – Gabriel Magalhaes.

Incredibly, for the second time in a row against the Seagulls, the Brazilian defender lost a tooth – this time after challenging goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in the 0-0 draw at AMEX Stadium.

Mikel Arteta’s men were unable to extend their four-game win against the impressive hosts, who had the misfortune of walking away without three points – but it was Garbriel who walked away without one of his teeth.

After the tough challenge with Sanchez in the second half, Magalhaes noticed he had lost a piece of his tooth and gave it to Arsenal coach Shad Forsythe on the sidelines but was still looking for another piece of it.

He was seen scouring the AMEX grass in search of the other remnant after the full-time whistle, but he couldn’t have had too much luck in the rain-soaked stadium as he strutted around with his hood up.

As a handful of Arsenal fans have pointed out, this isn’t the first time Gabriel has lost a tooth since joining the club – and it isn’t the first time this has happened against Brighton.

In their 2-0 win over Graham Potter’s squad in May this year to wrap up the 2020-21 season, Gabriel also saw one of his teeth knock out – and he had his teammates roped in on a quest on the Emirates field to look for it.

Luckily, he found it – thanks to the help of coaches and groundsmen – after Willian, Nicolas Pepe and Thomas Partey burst out laughing at the situation.

The £27 million sign posted a selfie on Instagram after that match, writing: ‘Don’t worry my devils, I’ve found my tooth.’

Fans couldn’t resist the temptation to make fun of Gabriel’s unbelievable misfortune, with one joke being that he had lost more teeth than Jadon Sancho had registered in goals for Man United.

Another said: ‘No, I’m actually yelling. Didn’t Gabriel lose a tooth against Brighton less than six months ago?! How do you lose a tooth twice against the same team?!’

Someone wrote: ‘Gabriel loses his tooth against Brighton? No wonder we delivered a toothless performance.’
