Young Archie and Lilibet are being ‘robbed’ of seeing their grandparents by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, her father Thomas Markle claimed today.

The Duchess of Sussex’s 77-year-old father accused the couple of being “terribly dishonest” towards their children by keeping them away from relatives, including himself, their grandfather Prince Charles and great-grandmother, the Queen.

Speaking to Australian TV from his home in Mexico, 120 miles south of Harry and Meghan’s £11 million Montecito mansion, he revealed he has yet to meet Archie, 2, and three-month-old Lilibet.

He also accused his daughter, with whom he is estranged, of an “attitude” of not letting him see his grandchildren.

Markle said the only family member who had regular access to the children at this point was Meghan’s mother and his ex-wife, Doria Ragland.

But he vowed not to use legal means to see the children, saying he didn’t want them “used as pawns.”

Speaking to Channel 7’s Sunrise, he said: ‘I think they (Archie and Lilibet) are being robbed of seeing all their grandparents and I think they are being robbed of seeing all their relatives and I think that’s awful is unfair to them.’

When asked if he would consider legal action to see the children, he said: “I’ve had offers from several lawyers – pro-bono – because we have the right to sue our grandchildren.

“But to me that’s like trying to descend into a game and use them as pawns and I won’t sue to see them because I think that’s using them and that’s not what I intend to do .

‘They shouldn’t be used, they’re just babies. So no, I’ll wait.’

“I’ll wait patiently until they’re ready to bring them to me. But as long as my daughter has the attitude that she doesn’t want me to see them, it will be.”

He later urged the couple, who have lived in California since their acrimonious split from the royal family, to return to England.

‘I would like them, all four, to go back to England and do their duties. It’s better for the kids and it’s better for them,” Markle said.

“By not taking back they are cheating their children. They also receive much better protection in England than in Montecito.

“I’d like them to make it up to the Queen and make it up to his (Harry’s) father, and then we can make it up.”

The comments were made as part of a 15-minute interview with the Channel 7 breakfast show, which aired earlier today.

Markle, who criticized his daughter in an exclusive interview with British show Good Morning Britain earlier this year, today described his daughter as “controlling”.

When asked if it was his daughter who was the “controlling” in their relationship, he said, “I believe 100 percent. My daughter is very controlling.’

Mr Markle also took a swipe at Prince Harry during his latest TV appearance.

He said he had yet to meet his son-in-law and that the prince had not contacted him to ask for his daughter’s hand ahead of their 2018 wedding – for which Mr Markle was not present.

In another barbed comment, he also accused the 37-year-old royal of “failing as a husband” over his handling of Meghan’s mental health claims.

During the couple’s interview with Oprah earlier this year, the 40-year-old duchess said she had considered committing suicide.

But she said that after going to palace officials for help, she was denied any kind of medical assistance.

Markle said, “I think Harry was a total failure as a husband because if a wife or child of mine came up to me and said I had mental health issues and was thinking about suicide, I’d take them straight to a doctor.

“I shouldn’t go see anyone first.”

It’s not the first time Markle has made the claim. After the couple’s interview with Oprah in March, he described the prince as snotty and accused him of not supporting his daughter.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain earlier this year about his daughter’s mental health claims, he said: ‘It really upset me, as I said it would have been easy for her to contact me, a from the rest of her family, whom she claims not to know.

“But the other thing is I would think she could turn to her husband.” Noticing that she had spoken to Harry, Mr Markle said Meghan’s husband Harry “clearly hadn’t supported her very well”.

Markle also denounced his daughter’s decision not to see or speak to him during his previous television appearance.

When he spoke, Mr Markle said: ‘The biggest problem here is that she pretty much haunts her entire family’.

Markle, who raised Meghan as a child, was due to walk down the aisle with his daughter in May 2018, but withdrew from the ceremony due to health concerns.

The two were also engaged in an argument over him in talks with the press. Mr Markle has maintained that he has been “tricked” by journalists – whom he claims to be suing.

After considering whether she was “easy” to delve into the matter, Meghan said her father had assured him that he had “absolutely not” spoken to the press.

She said, “If we’re going to use the word betrayal, it’s because when I asked him, when we were told by the communications team, this was a story that was going to come out, which, by the way, the tabloids had apparently known for a month or so.” so and decided to keep it until the sunday before our wedding because they wanted to create drama, which is also an important point in all of this, they don’t bring the news, they create the news.

“We called my father, and I asked him, and he said no, absolutely not. I said, you know, the institution never intervened for us, but they can try to go in and kill this story. But if they do this once, one day we won’t be able to use the same lever to protect our children.

She added: “I said one day we won’t be able to protect our own children, and I said, I just want you to tell me. If you tell me the truth, we can

‘And he couldn’t. And that really resonated with me, especially now as a mother.’

Meghan continued: ‘And I’m also just saying period, if we use this to protect you, one day we won’t be able to protect our own children, I’m talking about your grandchildren.

“I look at Archie, I think about this child, and I really can’t imagine doing anything to intentionally hurt my child. I can not imagine it. So it’s hard for me to reconcile that.’

MailOnline reached out to representatives of the Sussexes last night for comment.
