Blue Ivy made her Met Gala debut on Monday, stealing the show at age 14 with her Balenciaga dress and her defiant refusal to take off her sunglasses.
The eldest daughter of Beyonce and Jay Z posed solo and with her famous parents on the famous blue carpet of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, pairing her white bubble hem dress with sunglasses.
But the sunglasses proved to be a sticking point for the teen’s father, as the video shows the moment Blue refused to take off her sunglasses despite frantic instructions from aides and her father.
In the clip, Blue can be seen posing with her mother before Beyoncé’s publicist Yvette Noel-Schure runs over and gestures for the teen to take off her sunglasses.
The family’s longtime publicist is then seen asking Beyonce to tell her daughter, before stylist Ty Hunter and eventually Jay intervene.
However, a defiant Blue waves the instructions away and seems to imply that she won’t remove them until she reaches the top of the stairs.

Fans went into hysterics over the viral clip, with one declaring: “She’s Beyoncé’s daughter… she doesn’t answer to anyone, that’s what that energy was… and rightly so!”
Another added: “Blue is the manager and she brought two A-List clients.”
Beyonce co-chaired the event along with Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour, Vogue’s global editor-in-chief.
Fake babies once again proved the power of their stardom when both Nicole Kidman and Beyonce ignored the Met Gala’s age restrictions so their daughters Sunday Rose and Blue Ivy could appear at the event.
While stars like Jaden and Willow Smith, Elle Fanning and Hailee Steinfeld previously attended the ceremony as teenagers, Anna Wintour, the Met Gala chairwoman, was banned from attending under the age of 18 in 2018 after several younger stars were turned away.

Dance Moms alum Maddie Ziegler announced the rule when she told reporters she couldn’t attend because she was too young.
Organizers subsequently told The Hollywood Reporter that “it is not an appropriate event for people under the age of 18” and that the decision was made by Vogue.
However, after almost a decade, it seems an exception to the rule was made on Monday night, when Sunday Rose, 17, and Blue Ivy, 14, joined their famous moms on the red carpet.
It doesn’t seem to be a coincidence that both Nicole and Beyonce were co-chairs of the Met this year and were able to influence Anna’s decision, as both of their daughters are already carving out successful careers in the spotlight.
