Nicole Kidman reveals the surprising reason growing up with a famously pale complexion influenced her to become an actress










Nicole Kidman is known for her porcelain skin tone.

But as a child growing up in blazing Australia, she was often forced to stay at home, indoors, while other children played on the beach in the afternoon sun.

By avoiding sunburn, the 54-year-old created her own pleasure, reenacting the plays of Russian writer Anton Chekhov.

“I’ve played every part in Chekhov — in my bedroom, at all different hours, day and night,” she told US radio journalist Terry Gross this week.

“I didn’t know that would lead me to my calling,” she added.

Nicole relies on a combination of daily sunscreen, multi-task makeup and beauty supplements to protect her pale face.

“As a fair-skinned girl, I’ve been wearing sunscreen since I was a kid,” she recently told Harper’s Bazaar.

Elsewhere on her face, the star said she is strict about removing her makeup and double cleansing every night.
