Michelle Keegan discusses eight months in South Africa for the filming of Our Girl, while sitting at the table with Jonathan Ross on Saturday’s episode of his show.
The former Coronation Street actress, 34, who is married to former TOWIE star Mark Wright, confesses that she found it ‘difficult’ to be away from home for so long.
Michelle also says on the show that she would consider returning to the role because the door was open for her character Georgie.

She says, ‘Yes. The door is open to Georgie anyway, so I definitely would. Georgie’s storyline with Elvis came to an end. It felt right for her to take a step back. But I’d love to go back.’
Michelle says her role in Our Girl was her proudest part because she had to spend so much time away from home.
She says, “I’d say Our Girl just because I was away from home for a long time. One of the seasons I did was I lived away for eight months. I was in Nepal, Malaysia, South Africa. I had a great time, I was lucky, but it was hard to be away from home.”
Michelle adds: ‘It was very hard physically. I think acclimation was very difficult. So hot and a lot of gear on, that was really hard. And learning the medical side, also the medical side of the profession.’
Elsewhere, she reveals that her father Michael is hooking up his bar in Tenerife by telling his punters that they will be able to FaceTime his famous daughter.

She reveals that while her parents are proud of her, her father uses her famous status to his advantage.
When asked how they feel about her career, Michelle says, “They are… [proud]. My father is currently in Tenerife, he has bought a bar there.
“I have to FaceTime him five times a day with random clients. He’s really proud. I don’t know how he puts it in there.

Michelle’s parents are Jacqueline and Mike Keegan.
Her father is Scottish and her maternal grandmother is from Gibraltar, giving Michelle her Spanish ancestry.
Last month, Michelle flew to the Canary Island with her brother Andrew to show support for her father’s new venture, The Bee’s Knees gin bar.
Michelle posted a photo of herself and her family behind the bar, along with the caption: ‘Me and my brother went to Dad’s new bar in Tenerife last weekend.
“If you’re in Tenners and fancy a pint, drop by and say hello. Proud of you both for following your dreams.”

Michelle’s latest project has been working on Sky-drama Brassic.
She says about the work: ‘Honestly, it’s so much fun. Every day is so funny. often, Joe [Gilgun] whoever plays Vinnie, he comes on set and he just riffs.
“So you don’t know which line is coming… you don’t even know when to come in, everything is up in the air. It’s fun, keeps everything fresh.’
When asked about the end of series 3, Michelle says, “It’s a cliffhanger…” But notes: “I’m [already filming series 4].’

She adds: ‘I’m having so much fun and it was filmed in Manchester. It’s good to go back home.’
Michelle says, “A million percent, I’m really proud to be up north. it makes me proud of where I come from.’
Michelle’s character on the show Erin Croft is Tyler’s mother and the star tells what it’s like to play a mother on the series.
Michelle says: ‘Jude [Riordan, who plays Tyler], he is incredible. He is the most professional actor. Of all of us, he is the most professional on set. He literally just won an NTA. He joined Corrie.
When asked how they feel about her career, Michelle says, “They are… [proud]. My father is currently in Tenerife, he has bought a bar there’
“When he’s on set, he knows everyone’s point. When our mind is empty, he gives me my lead line. He’s brilliant, he’s really good.’
In addition to working with a young actor, Michelle works with animals. She says: ‘[There’s been] a llama, a bull, we rob a petting zoo [so there’s] a monkey, an emu, a skunk, an armadillo…. [I’m] do both [things you’re told not to do, work with animals and children]. It’s chaos [with the animals].’
About doing her own stunts, Michelle says, “I did that in Our Girl. And the most recent one I did was in Brassic. A car reversed. The handbrake was off. I was wearing heels, I had to run to the car to break the hand. It moved and I had to jump in the car. Running on cobblestones in heels…’
